Some of my favorite images I’ve shot, have come from some very unplanned shoots. I have at these times found myself in the right place at the right time as cliche as that may sound. It actually really does sound cliche and I’m so not using that phrase again.
After a two hour flight from Windhoek to Pretoria and another round about forty minutes on a train, I’d finally arrived and my ride was on it’s way to pick me up.
That’s when I spotted her. I couldn’t help but notice her. She was like a good piece of art
begging for recognition.Squatting on the pavement rolling her own cigarette. I thought to myself, she must be into some form of arts. Without any hesitation I pulled out my camera and discreetly started shooting. But I realized if she saw me snapping away at her, she might get offended and maybe call security on me (this is a realization from experience haha). So I walked up to her and said hi and to my surprise she turned out to be so nice and willing to pose for more images.
The biggest surprise was when she revealed that she was a lecturer of Philosophy and the University of Pretoria. Now if you may, please look at the few images below and tell me
you would have guessed that she was a lecturer, let alone Philosophy….However, identity and image issues aside, I met and made a good friend and an awesomely photogenic spot.
Thanks and hope you guys enjoy these images
